Who is Elon Musk you ask? Elon Musk is the CEO of some of the worlds biggest companies including Tesla Motors and Solarcity, he is valued at 13 billion dollars, yes that is billion with a ‘B’! So what do our clients have in common you may ask again?…
Well, a lot of the time people ask us what it takes to achieve their desired goal(s) when it comes to their health and fitness. It can be a bit a grey area as there is so much that goes into achieving a goal whether it is strength, health or aesthetic orientated. There is no one single answer.
However, one thing that we have noticed among all of our coaches combined experience is that clients who are most successful in achieving their goals all have a few characteristics and attitudes that see them succeed with their goals.
If you read any blog or article about Elon Musk you will be sure to get an earful of his traits and characteristics which apparently makes him so successful. Strangely enough, we see a lot of these same traits in our clients!
Here are a few traits that Elon Musk has that we have also earmarked as being good at predicting success when it comes to your health and fitness goals.
Always learning:
Whether it is a new exercise technique, a new recipe or a new daily routine, being successful means always trying to find a better way to do something. Being hungry to learn more and to get better is crucial at maintaining your interest in your health and fitness.
Knowing that there is always room for improvement:
While training can be extremely rewarding in terms of endorphin release and increased confidence, knowing that there are always areas to improve on such as technique, resistance and movement ability are what keeps you from getting carried away too soon.
See the big picture:
While it is easy to get caught up in important day-to-day activities such as school runs, work, family and social lives, it takes a wise head to see the bigger picture. 3, 6 or 12 months from now is what you are currently working towards. While that last set of an exercise may seem impossible now, imagine the feeling of being able to play with your kids/grandchildren or being able to climb that mountain you were always telling people you would climb. That is the fuel to the fire with a lot of our successful clients too.
Ability to juggle projects and life:
Despite having business owners, busy parents of large families, PhD students and clients who work abroad in some of the most distant lands on earth, they still are able to make the time to train and keep on top of their health and fitness.
Know how to have fun:
The 90% rule is something we are always telling our clients. If they train hard and consistently, watch their food 90% of the time and look to get good sleep each night then having a slice of chocolate cake that other 10% isn’t going to kill them. In fact, studies have reported that the slice of cake actually tastes sweeter well, kind of!
There is never any hassle:
The biggest thing we notice is that those who hold a non-fuss attitude excel when it comes to achieving their goals. It is those who make a fuss and a drama about training that we see don’t make their targets. Just watch Elon musk give an interview, the man is half asleep!
The bottom line is that if you want to be successful when it comes to your health and fitness then there these traits are worth trying to develop and follow consistently.
