The Christmas holidays are well and truly under way.
Christmas parties are full steam ahead, shops are fully kitted out in tinsel, snow and reindeer, lights are up in every town and the Christmas songs have appeared on the radio.
I definitely do enjoy the downtime, energy and atmosphere at this time of year, but one thing I definitely focus on is not to getting too caught up in the whole ‘It’s Christmas time’ too soon.
I think too many people get caught up in the whole ‘festive season’ way too early.
Before they know it, they’ve had 4 weeks of overeating on junk, excess drinking, massively reduced activity levels and too many late nights.
And of course, that will just drag the life out of anyone.
And when the new year arrives, it’s the same old story of changing everything over the course of a week, as they are driven by guilt and caught up in the drama of new years resolutions, false promises and unrealistic commitments.
The key to truly enjoying christmas (and any other event you can think of) is to stop it from completely smashing you to bits- and 4 weeks of ‘full on Christmas’ will do exactly that!!
Over the past few weeks we’ve had a lot of clients come say to us:
“I’m after making huge progress with my health, weight loss, lifestyle, fitness, etc. over the past few months. I really don’t want to see all the progress I’ve made slip backwards, but I also want to enjoy Christmas.
I’m feeling and looking better than I have in years, how do I avoid losing all the results I’ve achieved?”
Sound familiar?
Here’s another common theme we hear:
“I’ve only just gotten started with a few simple lifestyle changes over the past few weeks, but already feel under pressure to maintain them due to parties, shopping trips with family & friends, etc.
Even though I still have a long way to go to achieve my goals, I really don’t want the small few changes I’ve managed to disappear. I’ll just end up right back at square 1 in the new year, feeling bloated, wrecked and promsing myself that this is the year I’llm finally get my health, fitness & lifestyle back on track once.
How do I avoid slipping completely off track over the next few week while still enjoying myself over Christmas”
Again, sound familiar?
Well the answer to both these questions is first to know exactly what you’re biggest challenges are going to be, and then putting a few simple strategies in place to stop yourself from getting completely derailed.
But the key is that you must do it in advance, before things get crazy- it’s a bit late closing the stable door when the horse has already bolted!!
