So with our September approaching, we are gearing up for a busy few months in the gym with a ton of events and programs planned, incosuoing our upcoming 1 Week Trial Membership Program
Looking back over the first 8-and- a-bit months of 2017, I’m so grateful to have played a part in the amazing lifestyle changes that so many of our clients have made. So many of them have become different people since walking through our doors for the first time.
Different mindsets, different bodies, different belief systems and values- different people in so many ways.
So what made them change and decide to improve their health & fitness circumstances?
I’ll tell you shortly, but first i want to share a little bit about what helped me to change my own lifestyle, just like these clients I’m talking about.
Quite regularly I get messages from people who know me asking how I got out of the rut and lifestyle I was in. I was always involved in training but also had a lot of negatives in my life, due 100% to my own actions.
I was drinking 12 cans of coke//lucozade a day, living on take-aways and hot-food deli’s, gorging on chocolate (bit of a sugar junkie!), as well as going g to bed at 2, 3 4am and later- no wonder I ended up with gastritis which is such a painful condition.
I was stuck in the trap of drinking and partying every weekend to the point that my future quality of life wasn’t looking very good. This usually ended up in me completely blacking out and often ending up in hospital or being picked up by the Gardai!!
I also had a ton of personal debt after living beyond my means with very little to show for it.
While I may have a few funny stories from those times, it was really a horrible place to be. And because that’s what I and everyone else expected of me, that’s where I was comfortable.
So what changed with me and what changes in lots of our clients?
We get clarity on where we want to go and who we want to be.
Clarity isn’t an airy-fairy, mystical concept. It’s simply seeing your current situation as it is, and then using your imagination to create a better one to work towards.
Anyone who changes their health, fitness, financial, health, weight, work, etc. situation has done so only when they got very clear on what they wanted (and didn’t want), and then took action on it.
What really helped me turn things around was:
- fully accepting responsibility for changing my situation
- Getting clear on what I wanted out of my life
- Getting clear on what I didn’t want and would no longer accept for myself]
- Getting educated on how to get what I wanted
- Getting educated on changing the things I didn’t want
- Implementing what I learned- the all important step of taking action!!
Of course, the process is never easy and doesn’t come without it’s hurdles that have the potential to stop you in your tracks. But if you get clarity on the above then you’ll be able to get through these challenges and come out of them more capable and determined than before.
Summary
Whether you are in a bad situation now, or just need a bit of a kickstart, getting clear on where it is you want to go is the most powerful tool you have at your disposal. Countless people have done this before you so there is no valid reason why you can’t do the same if you really want to.
Take a few minutes to write down what you truly want, what you don’t want (which I find to be a much stronger driver of change) and get educated on how to improve them through coaches, blogs, youtube, seminars, podcasts, etc.
I hope this inspired you to get started and stay on track with your health, fitness and life goals- without doubt it’s worth the effort.
