Happy Monday. I hope it has gotten off to the start you had planned for it.
I always find that how well I feel on Monday (energy, enthusiasm, etc.) really determines how the rest of my week goes. If I get off to a bad start due to eating too much junk over the weekend, going to bed to late on Sunday night, etc. I really struggle to get ahead as the week progresses.
Likewise, if I set myself up for success on Monday by staying hydrated over the weekend, not allowing too much junk to creep in, having great quality family time, making time for myself, etc. then I wake up on Monday ready to attack the week.
And for me, feeling at my best on a Monday is a big priority but it’s something I’ve had to work on. I used to have the mindset that because it’s the weekend, all common sense just has to out the window just because it’s the weekend!!
Now instead of hating Monday as I used to, I really enjoy them as I ready to get stuck into a great week.
Our mindset plays such a powerful role in the quality of our lives and the results we achieve in any area we choose to focus on. This Saturday we held our monthly workshop and it was all about mindset. One area we focused on was being aware of disempowering mindsets and the negative impact they can have on us.
If you are aware of them you have the power to change them but if you remain unaware of them then you’ll never be able to change them. Here are 4 powerful disempowering mindsets we focused becoming aware of.
- Blaming other people: One of the hardest things for us to do is accept personal responsibility for our actions, circumstances and results. Taking the full weight of this on our own shoulders is tough to do. Removing the responsibility from ourselves is sio easy in the short term but it removes the power from the only person who cantruly help you change, improve and move forward…..You
- The ‘if it’s not perfect’ approach: The reason that this is so disempowering because it’s totally unrealistic and the minuter you allow this mindset to sink in you have set yourself up for failure. The good news is that nothing has to be perfect- not your nutrition, not your exercise program, not your sleep pattern. Nothing. They all need to be fairly good if you want a great quality life but having them perfect is neither sustainable or necessary.
- Content with insight: How many times have you said or heard someone say “I know I should do xyz.” or ‘I should really focus on doing less of ABC.”? When we are completely aware that our actions are harming our health, negatively impacting our quality of life or preventing us from achieving the results that we say we want to achieve, but refuse out of our conscious choice to take action then we are again acting from a very disempowering stance that simply doesn’t serve our personal needs.
- Fast results: I include myself when I say we all want fast results. They are just so desirable. We say “Imagine if I could just undo all the bad choices I have made over the years by this time next month!” And one of the best tricks the mind plays on us is that it does a great job of convincing us that it’s possible. And while it is possible to achieve fast results, it’s almost impossible to sustain them long-term. Give yourself time to develop the foundational habits that will stand to you 10 years down the line, not disappear in a few short months.
Step one in removing a disempowering mindset to allow you live the quality life you want is simply to become aware that it’s present in the first place. You can’t change anything without first having awareness of it.
If you need help with this, our upcoming 12 Week R.E.S.E.T. Program is a great place to start as it will teach you the most important habits for sustainable health, fitness & fat-loss results in a way that empowers you for long-term success.
It kicks off on Monday 6th March 2017 and you can check out the full details by clicking here.
Have a great week.
Steve
