A while back I was training a client who had a very high end fitness goals that included getting their body fat down to under 10%.
Now, if you’ve never done this you must understand that it doesn’t come easy.
You must train pretty hard, be super clean with your food, stay consistent and make your goal a huge priority in your life while you are chasing it.
It’s not for everyone BUT it was foe this particular person.
During a session one day another client asked me what was the point in them doing that and being that ‘strict’?
Whenever someone asks me ‘what’s the point’ I always reply “What’s the point of doing anything”?
You, and only you, must come up with the ‘point’.
What’s so important to understand is that what drives you to take action is completely different to what drives someone else to take action.
And unless you know what your WHY is you will never have the motivation or drive to change- EVER.
You might do little spurts here and there but inevitably you will always fail in the absence of a strong enough WHY?
If you are currently in a bad rut, unhappy with your body shape, energy levels, fitness levels, etc. or know you need to take action to avoid a lifestyle related illness, getting clear on your WHY needs to be your number 1 priority. Everything else is supported and driven forward by it.
Here’s a great example
One of our clients told me recently that her biggest driving force to get fit and healthy was setting her son up for a healthy life, something she had never learned from her parents. She took on the role of being a fit and healthy mother, exercises regularly and doesn’t gorge on shit food every day.
And one of the biggest rewards she has seen is when she goes shopping with him. He has his own little shopping trolley that he fills up with his food and he has no interest in the junk food isles. He walks straight past them and fills his trolley with his fruit, veg, chicken, etc.
She said seeing him doing this makes her so proud and drives her forward to being an even better role model. Making the changes (that din’t come easy) all seem worthwhile from such a simple experience with her son.
That, my friend, is a powerful WHY.
And if you don’t have one and you’re in a bad place,
YOU
ARE
FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF………….ighting an uphill battle 🙂
