Today is a huge day for us at STEVE MCGRATH HEALTH & PERFORMANCE with the addition of our newest full-time coach, Duncan Crowley.
With Duncan onboard it means that we will be seriously increasing the amount of educational content that we put out on a weekly basis.
We will be aiming for 3-5 items a week between blogs and videos with a round up of all the weeks material getting emailed out to our email subscribers at the end of each week.
If you are not on our mailing list then pop us an email and we’ll get you sorted.
We are going to get a few different categories of blogs and vlogs (video blogs?) running on a regular basis which we’ll add to over time such as:
- A GREAT HABIT TO DEVELOP FOR LIFE
- 2 THINGS I LEARNED THIS WEEK
- COMMON GYM MISTAKES
As always, if you find a pice of information useful, make a conscious effort to implement it in your training, life, etc.
Knowledge is useless if we don’t apply it.
Here’s our first instalment in A GREAT HABIT TO DEVLOP FOR LIFE
DRINK A MINIMUM OF 2 LITRES OF WATER EVERY DAY
It still amazes me how anyone can get through years while being totally dehydrated especially when you consider the vast amount of roles it’s involved in:
- Concentration
- Productivity
- Flexibility
- Stress management
- Fat loss
- Migraines
- Recovery from training
- and tons more
The reason we recommend 2 litres a day isn’t that it’s the magical amount. It’s just very easy to track and is very manageable amount to get through for anybody. It’s a very easy target to set as a baseline from which you can then adjust depending on your circumstances such as your activity levels, weight, etc.
Your fruit and veg intake also contribute to your daily water intake which will bring you closer to your ideal amount of water requirements.
Feel free to add in a few cups of green tea if you want an alternative to just plain water all day. Some great health benefits to be found here also.
Water is so important for life long health (and fitness results) that it is usually the very first thing that we change with our new clients and the effects are almost immediate. The positive effects that water has made is the most common feedback we get from our clients- more energy, focusing better at work and managing stress better are all very common results after only a week or 2.
You’ll never feel at your best if you remain in a dehydrated state no matter how much training you do.
For extra brownie points, filter your water first. Britta filters do a great job for the price of them and remove a lot of the junk (not all of it though) in our tap water.
This habit is so simple and powerful yet many people ignore it for years.
Don’t be one of them. Start today and set yourself a baseline of 2 litres and see how you feel.
