We kicked off our members testing week this week and as always it ‘s shaping up to be a great week.
And if you take the role that a consistent health & fitness program must have in your life seriously, then adding in regular testing weeks is a great addition to your routine.
Here are 7 reasons why.
Testing is a great way way to monitor your progress in the many different areas of fitness.
1) Testing provides you with a break from the norm
Having a break in your routine where you get the chance to let loose and give things an all out blast does wonders for your mental energy and buy in.
Too many people simply go through the motions from one week to the other until they eventually quit or exercising becoming the most boring part of their week. A week of testing helps you avoid this.
2) Testing recharges your coaches for the next few months
Our coaches are always switched on for our clients. It’s part of the job description!
Like most occupations, job satisfaction is such an important part of being a coach. Seeing clients achieve new personal bests, dropping a stroke of junk weight, getting their 1st chin up or simply taking part in their 1st testing week is a great thing to see as a coach.
It’s gives us a great sense of satisfaction and reminds us why we do what we do. And because your coach is happy you get a better service and better results to boot.
3) Testing builds a supportive and inspiring community
As 1 client said during the week, testing week really brings out the best in our members. You’re just dying to see someone achieve a milestone or hitting a new personal best. If you could you’d do anything to help them. Thats what a community is all about.
4) Testing prepares you for challenges in life
Life can be tough.
Do you know what else can be tough? Going from 0-6 pull ups, deadlifting twice your bodyweight or squeezing out 5 extra push ups even though you wanted to stop 10 seconds ago.
These physical challenges teach you that when you face an obstacle digging down a bit deeper can work wonders for you and that can be a very useful tool in life.
5) Testing gives you light at the end of the tunnel
What are you’re goals when you go to the gym or decide to eat healthy? All our clients have a goal in mind and testing week is when they see if they have achieved it. Going 12 weeks and not knowing why is a pain in the ass.
Knowing that you have a final destination that you are working towards can make all the difference. It’s like putting your motivation and willpower on auto-pilot. That goal getting closer and closer each week should be enough to get you into the gym a few times each week.
6) Testing gives you a break
You can’t train at a high intensity all of the time and taking time to rest and recover is one of the best things you can do for your mind and body.
Testing weeks work by giving a few exercises/tests a good blast over the course of a few days and trying to do a few things that you couldn’t do before- test what you have in the tank. After the tests you take a few days to chill out, have a few days rest, go for a few walks, have a few lie-ins or whatever. Planned breaks allow you to spring back fitter than before and stop you getting physically and mentally burned out.
7) Testing weeks help you plan your goals more effectively
It’s very common to see people doing programs that simply aren’t suited to them. They are too advanced, too confusing, too easy or not in alignment with their stated goals.
Testing gives you a very clear picture of where you currently are with your fitness and allows you to plan much more effective training programs to suit your goals. And better programs always produce better results and that’s what most people want.
